RACE 4
5.NOBLER $3.20 Fixed BEST BET!!!!!
“The Chris Waller-trained galloper is racing in a purple patch of form and looks well placed to bring up a hat-trick of victories here today. The gelding by Amaron won at Randwick two starts back before heading to Gosford and once again proving too smart, this time scoring by half a length.
He has since trialled leading into this assignment and, with a touch of luck in running, looks capable of making it three wins on the trot. Boom apprentice Sienna Grima takes the ride and only strengthens his claims. Hard to beat.”

RACE 1
2.YELLOW JERSEY $2.30
1.WELWAL $6 E/W
6.WARBY $51 ROUGHIE
“An open Listed race kicks off this massive program and hopefully we’ve found the winner. The 2 is an import from the McEvoy yard that arrives with a big reputation. He has won three of his four starts to date and reports suggest he has settled in nicely. The stable holds him in high regard and there has even been talk of a potential Cox Plate campaign. Keep a close eye on any betting moves closer to jump time.
Our E/W play is 3, the gelding by Shalla from the Price and Kent yard with Ben Melham on board. Racing well this prep, keep safe.
Our ROUGHIE is the 6 from the Tony Gollan stable, who hasn’t shown a great deal at his two runs this preparation. However, he enjoys racing here and appreciates some sting out of the ground. At the odds, he looks worthy of a small each-way ticket.”
–
RACE 2
1.MAFFIANO $4.40
2.AREPRICE $9 E/W
15.PALMANOVA $23 ROUGHIE
“A very open race for the juveniles with plenty of chances, and hopefully we’ve found the winner. The 1 has drawn to get the run of the race and, if the tempo is genuine, there may not be a horse in the field hitting the line harder than him late. The colt by Home Affairs looks above average and commands plenty of respect.
Our E/W play is 2, who did enough when resuming and has also drawn well for this assignment. He can settle on the speed and take some running down in the straight. Keep safe.
Our ROUGHIE is 15 from the Waterhouse/Bott yard. The filly by Tassort is expected to press forward early, cross the field and give her rivals something to catch. At the odds, she is capable of running a huge race.”
–
RACE 3
7.BELLA MONTAGNE $2.30
2.ETNA ROSSO $9 E/W
“The 7 looks poised to atone for his defeat behind his stablemate and main danger in this year’s Brisbane Cup over the 3200m. The classy stayer gets in well with just 53kgs on his back and Rachel King retains the ride for this feature event. Drawn well, expect him to settle in the first half of the field and prove difficult to run down, serious stayer.
Our E/W play is 2 from the Chris Waller stable, who looks primed to run a big race now that he is rock-hard fit. He was well beaten by the Waterhouse/Bott gallopers last start, but back on a rain-affected track he is capable of turning the tables. With Craig Williams on board, he shapes as a serious each-way chance. Respect.”
–
RACE 4
10.WITHIN THE LAW $2.60
11.TUPAKARA $10 E/W
5.CELLARMASTER $21 ROUGHIE
“The 10 from the Baker yard looks perfectly placed and has drawn to get the run of the race in this Group 3 over the mile. We loved the way the filly by Lucky Vega found the line when resuming behind the smart Regal Award on this track a fortnight ago. She has won second up in the past and with Tommy Berry retaining the ride, she shapes as a serious player.
Our E/W play is 11, who is rock-hard fit and, if there is to be an upset, it could be the Archibald-trained filly who causes it. The fact she has just one win from fourteen starts is a slight concern, but she is racing consistently and must be kept safe.
Our ROUGHIE is 5 from the Charlton yard with Ben Melham on board. She has been up for a while, so the decision to keep her in work and target this race must be respected. Capable of running a cheeky race at huge odds.
–
RACE 5
4.PEREILLE $5
17.ABOUT TO EXPLODE $10 E/W
8.FIRE STAR $13 ROUGHIE
“This is a very open Listed race over the 1200m, and hopefully we’ve found the winner. The 4 from the Tony Gollan stable with James McDonald on board looks ready to strike third up. Expect the gelding by Fastnet Rock to settle midfield, find clear running in the straight and unleash a powerful finish. If he is within striking distance at the furlong, watch out.
Our E/W play is 17, who has drawn well and gets in with just 53kgs on his back. The gelding by Spirit Of Boom boasts an exceptional record on this track and shapes as a serious player. Don’t take him lightly.
Our ROUGHIE is 8, who has drawn the inside barrier and, with a touch of luck in running, is capable of being right there fighting out the finish. Definitely worth an each-way ticket in a race like this.”
–
RACE 6
8.SHE’S GOT PIZZAZZ $5.00
4.NIANCE $7 E/W
13.POSTER GIRL $12 ROUGHIE
“Probably the most open race on the program outside of the Stradbroke. The 8 will be out to atone for her narrow defeat on this track a fortnight ago over the 1200m. She got too far back before rattling home to be beaten just half a length. The rise to 1300m looks ideal and, provided she isn’t giving them a huge start, expect her to be right in the finish.
Our E/W play is 4 from the Begg yard, who looks ready to peak after two solid efforts since resuming. She profiles as one of the better each-way plays of the day and a win would not shock.
Our ROUGHIE is 13 from the Munce stable. She rises in class but is more than capable of being there at the finish. She loves racing here and should not be underestimated. Respect.”
–
RACE 7 (JJ ATKINS)
4.TRON BOLT $2.20
1.BERZELIUS $6 E/W
“The first Group 1 of the day and we have an odds-on favourite who will be very hard to beat. The 4 TRON BOLT created a huge impression when storming home to score by 1.9 lengths at Rosehill a fortnight ago and reports suggest the colt by Toronado from the Chris Waller stable is firing on all cylinders leading into this. James McDonald replaces Sienna Grima and has already tasted success aboard this exciting colt. If he gets clear galloping room in the straight, it could all be over in a matter of strides. Serious galloper.
Our E/W play, if there is to be an upset, is 1 BERZELIUS, who looks the favourite’s main danger. The Freedman-trained colt by Extreme Choice has won two of his three starts and has drawn to get the run of the race. His victory on this track last start was full of merit and, if there is any chink in the favourite’s armour, he could be the one to expose it. Keep very safe.”
–
RACE 8 (STRADBROKE)
7.HEADLEY GRANGE $5.50
1.FANGIRL $6.50 E/W
11.ESTADIO MESTALLA $23 ROUGHIE
“The 2026 Stradbroke Handicap shapes as a cracking contest with some outstanding gallopers set to do battle. The 7 HEADLEY GRANGE from the Joe Pride stable with Tim Clark on board proved too smart when taking out the Group 1 Kingsford Smith Cup on this track a fortnight ago over the 1300m. He steps up to 1400m here, but we are confident that won’t be an issue. He’s a galloper who thrives on rain-affected ground and, from the ideal draw, we see no reason why he can’t make it back-to-back Group 1 victories.
Our E/W play is 1 FANGIRL, who looks ready to peak now and, provided the track doesn’t become too wet, this champion mare will take plenty of beating. She was charging home in the Kingsford Smith Cup but simply couldn’t secure clear running when it mattered most. James McDonald retains the ride and a big performance is expected.
Our ROUGHIE is another Joe Pride-trained runner the 11 ESTADIO MESTALLA who is third up and looks primed to run a huge race. Both runs this preparation have been full of merit and, since his latest effort a month ago, he has had two trials to keep him ticking over. Worth a small each-way ticket at the odds.
–
RACE 9
1.HALF YOURS $2.20
11.SHE’S A HUSTLER $7 E/W
“The 1, the reigning Melbourne Cup winner, looks hard to beat now that two of his main dangers, Pride Of Jenni and Vauban, have been scratched. This gives the McEvoy-trained galloper the perfect opportunity to return to the winner’s circle for the first time since his 2025 Melbourne Cup triumph. He relishes rain-affected ground and the rise in distance looks exactly what he has been searching for. Serious winning hope.
Our E/W play is 11, the mare by Ace High from the Begg stable with Jordan Childs on board. She looks ready to peak fourth up and the wet track will hold no fears. Keep very safe.”

BELMONT:
RACE 1
4.BASSETT HOUND $2.10 Fixed BEST BET!!!!!
“The gelding by Wootton Bassett is the one to beat and a galloper who has been good to us since resuming from a spell, winning both starts this preparation. This lightly raced galloper has shown through his five starts to date that he possesses plenty of upside and looks perfectly placed in this Open event to kick off the program.
