SATURDAY’S TIP SHEET – AUGUST 30TH
Welcome to a great day of racing around the country.
–
ROSEHILL:
RACE 1
7.WILD THOUGHTS $3.00
1.BE REAL $14 E/W
11.IRISH BLISS $26 ROUGHIE
“We kick off the day with the Midway, and it shapes as a very open race. The 7 from the Parker stable comes in off two straight wins and arrives full of confidence, with Jay Ford sticking — big show expected.
Our E/W play is the 1 from the Widdup yard, with boom apprentice Siena Grima taking the ride. Proven second-up and effective on rain-affected ground, a win wouldn’t surprise.
For the big value players, our ROUGHIE is the 11, also from the Parker stable. He’s fit, ready to go, and with Tyler Schiller aboard is worth a small each-way ticket.”
–
RACE 2
3.SOLITARO $3.60
7.GHOST WALKER $12 E/W
13.NOVA CENTAURI $17 ROUGHIE
“The 3 has drawn well and with J-Mac aboard should be charging home once the button is pushed. Loved the way he hit the line at Tamworth last start when only seeing daylight late — a serious player.
Our E/W play is the 7, resuming from a spell with two solid trials under the belt. Expect him to get back and be hitting the line strongly — respect.
Our roughie is the 13, a last-start winner facing her toughest test to date. The wide draw means she’ll settle back, but look for her to be finishing hard down the outside.”
–
RACE 3
7.AMREEKIYAH $3.00
“The 7 from the Snowden stable was doing her best work late on this track a fortnight ago, just missing the placings after getting back and covering plenty of ground. She should settle closer here, and with her sharp turn of foot looks the one they’ll all have to beat.”
–
RACE 4
9.NIKOSI $4.00
1.KAPAKIRI $9 E/W
“The 9 created a big impression when bolting in by 4.1 lengths at Wyong a fortnight ago and looks well placed to make it back-to-back wins to kick off his Australian career. This is a tougher assignment, but he’s expected to give it a real shake. Watch the market closely for the Baker-trained galloper.
Our E/W play is the 1 from the Waller stable with Ben Osmond claiming 2kg. Drawn well, he gave them a galloping lesson at Warwick Farm last start, scoring by a dominant 6.1 lengths. This is harder, but that was ultra impressive — respect.”
–
RACE 5
3.AMUSING $3.10
1.TRAVOLTA $6.00
2.LOUISVILLE $41 ROUGHIE
“The 3 is a very smart mare chasing four straight on a track she loves, with all three of her recent wins coming here at Rosehill. J-Mac sticks, and with winning form on her side she’ll be hard to beat.
The 1 is our E/W play, a consistent galloper looking to atone for a narrow last-start defeat. Rarely runs a bad race and just needs a touch of luck in running to be right in the finish again.
If there’s to be an upset, the 2 from the Waller stable could be the one. At the price, he’s worth a small each-way ticket, but he’ll need plenty to fall his way to cause a boilover.”
–
RACE 6
4.SIXTIES $3.90
“This Group 3 shapes as a quality contest despite the small field. The 4 was dominant at Randwick midweek, putting a 7-length margin on his rivals in a display that screamed serious talent. The way the Flying Artie colt let down in the straight suggested he’s well above average. It’s a big step from maiden grade to Group company, but off that demolition job we’re happy to stick with him.”
–
RACE 7
6.POLYGLOT $3.40
3.ROSELYN’S STAR $5.50 E/W
“The 6 will be out to atone for his narrow defeat here at Rosehill in this BM78 over 1100m. He hit the line strongly, especially over the final furlong, but just found one better on the day. A proven second-up performer, and with added fitness, we’re expecting him to go close to returning to the winner’s stall — respect.
Our E/W play is the 3 from the O’Shea stable, who fought out the finish with Polyglot that day and went down by just a neck. He’s also a second-up winner in the past and should be right in the mix again. A serious each-way hope.”

CAULFIELD:
RACE 1
16.RUAKAKA RAIDER $6.50
8.WHISKEY ON THE HILL $8.50 E/W
“The 16 is rock-hard fit and looks set to take plenty of beating in what shapes as an open race to kick off this big program. He’s been racing well without winning of late and gets his chance to bounce back into the winner’s circle here.
Our E/W play is the 8, who loves racing at this track and has drawn to stalk the speed before pouncing in the straight. The drier the surface, the better his chances.”

RACE 3

RACE 4
14.REVELARE $4.20
12.KINESOLOGY $9 E/W
“The 14 looks well in with just 54kg on his back for this 2000m event and will strip fitter second-up, a stage where he’s unbeaten from two starts. The firmer the track, the more he thrives, and with Ryan Hurdle — who knows him inside out — aboard, he’s a serious player.
Our E/W play is the 12 from the Waller stable with Craig Williams taking the ride. He comes down the Highway after resuming at Rosehill a fortnight ago, and the trainer/jockey combination commands respect.”
