SATURDAY’S TIP SHEET – JUNE 6TH
Welcome to another big day of racing around the country with the GRP1 Oaks at Eagle Farm the feature of the day.
–
RANDWICK:
RACE 1
2.LORD HORATIO $4.60
4.KLOCKE $7 E/W
3.LADY CATALINA $10 ROUGHIE
“A very open race for the juveniles kicks off the program and hopefully we can start the day the same way we did last week. 2 is a smart colt by Stay Inside who won by just under a length on debut at Warwick Farm a month ago and has since trialled in preparation for this. Trained on the track, he commands plenty of attention.
Our E/W play is 4, a first starter from the Chris Waller yard who has had three trials leading into his debut. Reports suggest the colt by Zoustar has plenty of upside, so don’t dismiss.
Our ROUGHIE is 3, who can run a cheeky race at double-figure odds. He does hold a fitness edge over some of his rivals, which could prove crucial. Keep safe.”
–
RACE 2
9.PERFECT JUSTICE $4.60
12.IS IT SPECTACULAR $10 E/W
14.WHOA NELLIE $10 ROUGHIE
“The 9 is trained on the track and has won second up in the past. He stormed home when resuming from a spell here a fortnight ago over the 1400m and looks set to relish the rise in distance. Sienna Grima retains the ride and, if he can settle a little closer in running, he is going to take some holding out.
–
RACE 3
4.EXIT FEE $3.40
5.OCCULT $8.50 E/W
1.FIRST LANDING $18 ROUGHIE
“The4 got his nose down at the right time to defeat what looks to be his main danger again today. Once he finally saw daylight, he hit the line powerfully on this track a fortnight ago over the 1200m. He drops back to 1100m here, but Nash Rawiller sticks with him and we’re expecting him to settle a touch closer in running. He excels on rain-affected tracks and looks a major player.
Our E/W play is 5, who looks ready to peak fourth up and could bounce back now that he returns to this grade. The wide barrier did him no favours at Scone last start, but he has drawn much better today. Respect.
Our ROUGHIE is 1, who comes into this off the back of a narrow victory at Newcastle. This is a tougher assignment, but he is racing in good form and shouldn’t be underestimated. Keep safe.”
–
RACE 4
10.NASEBAH $2.70
3.BRAVISSIMA $10 E/W
“The10 is a smart mare by Kingman from the Chris Waller yard who faces her toughest test to date. She has won two of her three starts, including a dominant 3.6-length victory on the Kensington track three weeks ago. It was an impressive performance and suggested she has the ability to measure up to Saturday grade. Look for her to settle midfield, find clear air in the straight and unleash her strong finish once Sienna Grima presses the button.
Our E/W play is 3, who looks ready to peak after two solid runs this preparation. She kept finding the line when finishing three lengths from the winner over 1400m on this track a fortnight ago. The booking of Nash Rawiller for the first time must be respected.”
–
RACE 5
11.SUNSPRITE $3.30
1.AGENT ZERO $8 E/W
“The11 from the Archibald yard with apprentice Braith Nock on board looks well placed in this staying contest over the 2000m here today. All three runs this preparation have been full of merit and, based on her latest effort, she looks ready to break through. Expect her to be doing her best work late. Serious player.
Our E/W play is 1 with Nash Rawiller on board. He comes into this off the back of a half-length victory on this track a fortnight ago and the rise in distance looks ideal for the Maher-trained galloper. He handles all track conditions and profiles as a serious each-way chance. Respect.”
–
RACE 6
6. ICE KOOL $2.40
3.BIG RED TEQUILLA $5.50 E/W
12.ISLAND DEC $41 ROUGHIE
“The 6 looks a promising gelding and a galloper with a bright future based on what we have seen in his three starts to date. He resumes off the back of two trials and hasn’t been seen since finishing behind Graftburners in the Gold Coast Sunlight back in January. Reports suggest his trackwork has been first-class, with the only query being his lack of exposure to a rain-affected track. Keep a close eye on any late betting moves. Big danger.
Our E/W play is 3, who is also resuming from a spell and looks to have an exciting career ahead of her. She has won four of her eight starts to date and we loved the way she found the line in her recent trial. Serious player.
Our ROUGHIE, if there is to be an upset, could be 12, who did enough when resuming at Gosford. Worth a small each-way ticket in case the knockout result eventuates.”
–
RACE 7
6.MIDNIGHT DYNAMITE $2.30
11.LUGH $6 E/W
14.COCO JAMBOO $16 ROUGHIE
“The 6 is racing in outstanding form and will be looking to make it four victories on the trot. He travelled to Brisbane last start and gave his rivals a galloping lesson, scoring with authority under James McDonald. The awkward draw is the main concern, but provided they don’t go too hard early, he should be right there fighting out the finish. Big show expected once again.
Our E/W play is 11, who resumes from a spell and looks a galloper on the rise. He has won five of his nine starts to date and has had two trials to prepare for this assignment. He races well on the track and boasts a strong fresh record. Keep safe.
Our ROUGHIE is 14, the mare by Massaat from the Archibald stable. She is expected to settle back and be charging home late. Respect.”
–
RACE 8
3.GENRAL SALUTE $5.00
4.ACCREDITED $7 E/W
13.HARRY’S BAR $15 ROUGHIE
“The feature race of the day and, boy, it’s as open as Sydney Heads. Let’s hope we’ve found the winner. The 3 resumes from a spell and is a galloper that competed against some serious opposition last preparation without ever disgracing himself. He has drawn to stalk the speed and just needs clear galloping room in the straight to make his presence felt. He certainly won’t want the track to dry out, with his record on Soft ground being exceptional.
Our E/W play is 4 from the Pride yard with Nash Rawiller on board. He is also returning from a spell and we loved both of his trials leading into this. He loves racing here and handles all conditions. Big danger.
Our ROUGHIE is 13, who comes into this off the back of a one-length victory in the Wagga Town Plate. He gets in well with just 53kgs on his back and looks capable of giving a great sight at odds. Don’t dismiss.”
–
RACE 9
5.FORMAL DISPLAY $3.80
2.KNOW THYSELF $7 E/W
10.YET HE MOVES $13 ROUGHIE
“The 5 is racing in terrific form this preparation, recording three wins and a placing from his four starts. The wide draw proved costly at Scone last start, but he still managed to finish in the placings, beaten just 1.1 lengths over the mile. He gets in well after the 1.5kg claim for Braith Nock and looks a major player.
–
RACE 10
4.GLORIUS MOMENTS $4.20
11.CROSSBOW $11 E/W
20.BELLA CORAZON $18 ROUGHIE
“The4 is looking to make it four wins on the trot in this BM78 over the 1400m to close the program. The gelding by Brutal from the Lee yard proved too smart as the $2 favourite at Warwick Farm three weeks ago over the 1100m. He was first up from a lengthy spell that day and has also won second up in the past.
He does have to carry 60.5kgs, but he looks a galloper with plenty of ability and is poised to be very competitive once again.
Our E/W play is 11, the Chris Waller-trained gelding with Sienna Grima aboard. Look for him to atone for his narrow defeat on the Kensington track three weeks ago. Don’t dismiss.
Our ROUGHIE is 20 with Alysha Collett on board carrying just 53kgs. She hit the line powerfully at Scone last start and, with that run under her belt, could run a cheeky race at double-figure odds. Respect.”
–
EAGLE FARM:
RACE 1
17.CAVALRY MAN $3.40
13.EXPRESS PAYMENT $8 E/W
“The 17 is racing well without winning and looks due for a change of luck, which could arrive in the opening event of this massive program today. He charged home strongly at Doomben a fortnight ago and now returns to a track where he excels. The Lindsay Gough-trained galloper looks hard to beat.
Our E/W play is 13, who is looking to make it back-to-back victories after saluting by half a length at Doomben last start. Drawn well and with Michael Rodd retaining the ride, she commands plenty of respect. Don’t dismiss.”
–
RACE 2
9.NOW IS THE HOUR $2.60
8.SOOTHSAYER $9 E/W
6.TOWN CRIER $16 ROUGHIE
“The 9 from the astute Tony Gollan stable will be looking to bounce back into the winner’s circle after finishing runner-up at his past two starts. Last time out at Doomben, Arabian Rose proved too good, defeating him by 1.6 lengths after he started favourite. Drawn to get the run of the race today, he looks the one they all need to beat.
Our E/W play is 8 from the Freedman camp with Ben Melham on board. Both runs this preparation have been full of merit and a return to this grade should see him prove highly competitive. Big danger.
Our ROUGHIE is 4, who steps up in class after saluting by a length at Ipswich three weeks ago. Expect him to roll forward, take up the running and give them all something to catch. Respect.”
–
RACE 3
2.FLYING DESTONY $5.00
4.STEADY READY $7 E/W
1.GIVEMETHEBEATBOYS $11 ROUGHIE
“A very open Listed race over the 1000m and hopefully we have found the winner. The2 is living up to his name, winning his past four starts and looking a genuine chance to make it five on the trot. He likes to settle just off the speed before unleashing a sharp turn of foot late. While he is yet to win on this track from three attempts, he has still managed two placings and commands plenty of respect.
Our E/W play is 4, who has drawn well and will strip fitter second up. He resumed on the Gold Coast a month ago when finishing 1.3 lengths behind Flying Destiny, his main rival here. He’ll be looking to turn the tables and we certainly wouldn’t rule it out. Keep very safe.
Our ROUGHIE is 1 with Tim Clark on board. We’re happy to put a line through his last-start effort as he is far better than that. Worth another chance and definitely worth a small each-way ticket in this.”
–
RACE 4
6.GLENORCHY $3.20
“The6 is a colt by Cosmic Force from the Chris Waller stable and is expected to strip fitter second up here today. He did enough on debut at Randwick a fortnight ago when finishing 3.8 lengths behind Friendly Fire over the 1200m and will have taken plenty of benefit from that experience. Drawn the inside barrier for this assignment and with Tommy Berry replacing Sam Clipperton, he looks set to take a significant step forward. Bright prospect.”
–
RACE 5
10.MERCY ME $8
11.SEQUISTA $12 E/W
12.SWORD OF LEGACY $18 ROUGHIE
“One of the most open races on the program, and hopefully we can find the winner for you because it should pay well. The 10 is a filly from the Nathan Doyle yard with Regan Bayliss on board and has shown through her six starts to date that she possesses plenty of upside. She will be out to atone for her narrow defeat at Scone last start and, with a touch of luck in running, can play a major role in the finish.
Our E/W play is 11 from the Ryan & Alexiou stable, who made up significant ground in that same race to finish sixth, beaten just 1.5 lengths. She will have taken plenty of benefit from that run and has won second up in the past. Keep very safe.
Our ROUGHIE is 12, who has an awkward draw to overcome. Expect her to settle near the rear before looking to unleash a powerful finish late in the straight. Respect.”
–
RACE 6
2.PINITO $4.80
9.DECLICHY BOULEVARD $9 E/W
12.BENGAL DIAMOND $14 ROUGHIE
“The 2 comes into this race off the back of a last-stride victory at Doomben over the mile a fortnight ago. The mare by Trapeze Artist has drawn to get the run of the race and just needs clear galloping room in the straight to feature in the finish. Ben Melham replaces the suspended James McDonald and looks a serious player.
Our E/W play is 9, the stablemate who is also a last-start winner. The mare by Snitzel possesses a sharp turn of foot, so expect her to be doing her best work late. Don’t dismiss.
Our ROUGHIE is 12, who has drawn well and will be looking to make it back-to-back victories after proving too good on this track a week ago. Despite the quick turnaround, she is capable of playing a major role in the finish. Respect.”
–
RACE 7
12.KING ZEPHYR $2.40
5.HARRY’S YACHT $6 E/W
“The 12 is a smart galloper from the Begg yard who looks due for a change of luck after finishing runner-up at his past two starts. If he can secure clear running in the straight, he is going to be the one charging home once Craig Williams presses the button. He’s an exciting galloper and, with even luck in running, could prove too good for this field.
